A very successful first MEDPET Inter-provincial race took place on 5 September 2009 from Port Nolloth. 

We first want to thank the main sponsor MEDPET, all the co-ordinators and all participants for being a part of and taking part in this fantastic race that has definitely come to stay.  A special word of thanks to Henri Stiglingh and Jan Bekker of the Free State who organized the event.  Without your contributions and hard work, this race could not have taken place.

A total of 415 pigeons were entered and the pigeons reached their lofts evenly spaced in the different regions Saturday and Sunday.  Efforts will be made to significantly increase the entrants next year.

Pigeons from Oudtshoorn that is the nearest town to Port Nolloth, started clocking on Saturday and the pigeons of the other regions that are situated further away started arriving early on Sunday.  The winning pigeon was clocked by a young lady of 18years, showing up the old experienced  racers.  Congratulations to Christine Ann Williams of Port Elizabeth that clocked the winning speed of 1290mpm.  The fact that it was a young male bird SAOP 2008 3449 that completed the distance of 962km to be declared the winner, makes it even more noteworthy.  Congratulations as well to all the other winners of the different regions.  The hampers and prize money will soon be available for payout and the winners of the hampers will be able to collect them.

Meetings will be organized as soon as possible to enable all coordinators and participants to contribute ideas to the race next year.  This race has so much potential and will help us achieve so much more, but we need your cooperation in this regard.  There are a lot of enquiries and interest from all areas and it will take careful planning to accommodate everyone fairly.  We are looking forward to handing over the trophy to Christine at a big prize giving function.

‘n Uiters suksesvolle eerste MEDPET Interprovinsiale wedvlug vanaf Port Nolloth het op die 5de September 2009 plaasgevind.

Eerstens wil ons die hoofborg nl. MEDPET, al die koördineerders en alle deelnemers bedank vir hulle deelname en betrokkenheid by hierdie fantastiese wedvlug wat verseker gekom het om te bly.

‘n Spesiale woord van dank aan Henri Stighlingh en Jan Bekker van die Vrystaat wie die organisasie behartig het.

Daar was ‘n totale inskrywing van 415 duiwe en die duiwe het Saterdag en Sondag in reëlmaat in die verskillende streke hulle hokke bereik.  Daar sal gepoog word om aanstaande jaar hierdie inskrywings aansienlik te vermeerder.

Die dorp wat die naaste aan Port Nolloth geleë is, nl. Oudshoorn het al Saterdag begin klok en die ander streke wat verder geleë is se duiwe het Sondag vroeg begin arriveer.  Die wenduif is geklok deur ‘n jong 18 jarige dame wat die ou manne lelik op hulle neuse laat kyk het.  Baie geluk aan Christine Ann Williams van Port Elizabeth wat die wenduif Sondagoggend geklok het, en ‘n wenspoed van 1290 mpm behaal het.  Wat die prestasie meer merkwaardig maak is die feit dat dit ‘n jaaroud mannetjie nl. SAOP 2008 3449 was wat die afstand van 962 km kon aflê en as wenner aangewys kon word.  Baie geluk ook aan al die wenners van die verskillende streke.  Die “hampers” en prysgeld sal eersdaags gereed wees om uit te betaal en die “hampers” sal in ontvangs geneem kan word deur die wenners.

Daar sal so gou moontlik vergaderings in die verskillende streke plaasvind waar alle koördineerders en deelnemers hulle insette kan lewer ter verbetering van volgende jaar se wedvlug.  Hierdie wedvlug het soveel potensiaal en ons wil dit net na nog hoër hoogtes neem, maar daarvoor het ons u samewerking nodig.  Daar is geweldig navrae en belangstelling uit alle oorde en dit gaan fyn beplanning kos om almal op ‘n regverdige wyse te akkommodeer.  Ons sien uit daarna om aan Christine haar trofee te oorhandig tydens ‘n groot prysuitdelingsfunksie.
